In 2019 she sold Sydney Psychology Centre and entered the Federal Parliament where she chaired the first Mental Health and Suicide Prevention Committee. As the Committee Chair, she led an inquiry into Australia’s mental health system and produced key recommendations for reform. While in Parliament Dr Martin contributed to the Health, Disability (NDIS) and Family Law Committees, and contributed to an inquiry into Family and Domestic Violence. Dr Martin called for protective behaviours, consent education and relationship skills to be embedded into the school curriculum and in 2023 she was appointed to The Federal Department of Education’s National Respectful Relationships Education Expert Working Group. In 2024 Dr Martin was appointed Ambassador of Australians for Mental Health to help ensure mental health is at the heart of national life.

In 2022 Dr Martin returned to private practice and in 2024 she founded Psychological Solutions, a psychology practice and mental health consultancy service located in Crows Nest, Sydney.  Dr Martin offers mental health care to people across the lifespan but her focus is on treating mental health problems ‘early in life, early in illness’. She treats a range of mental health problems and has a special interest in neurodevelopmental conditions and supporting families going through separation and divorce. She takes a family systems approach and believes multi-disciplinary care achieves the best outcomes for patients with complex care needs. Dr Martin has skills in a range of evidence based therapeutic approaches and offers individualised and group therapy. She conducts comprehensive assessments, including cognitive educational assessments and diagnostic assessments for ASD and ADHD. Dr Martin provides consultancy services, including customised training workshops and research projects, for a range of organisations, including schools, medical and health care companies, not-for-profits, and government agencies.
