Dr Fiona Martin is Psychologist, Single Expert Family Report Writer and Parenting Coordinator for matters heard in the Federal Circuit and Family Law Court of Australia. She has over 20 years of clinical experience in mental health care and brings expertise in working with complex family dynamics and post separation relationships.

Dr Martin is the Principal Psychologist and Director of Psychological Solutions (Australia), endorsed by the Psychology Board of Australia in the area of Educational and Developmental Psychology and she is a Psychology Board Approved Supervisor of Psychologists.

Dr Martin is skilled in evidence based therapeutic approaches and evidence based diagnostic assessments. She has a background in child development, disability, parenting, trauma, family and couple therapy, conflict resolution and risk assessment.

Dr Martin is holds membership of the Australian Psychological Society (APS) and Fellow of the APS College of Educational and Developmental Psychologists. She holds membership of the Pacifica Congress, Family Report Writers Network, Australian Educational and Developmental Psychology Association (AEDPA) and the Australian Institute of Company Directors. In 2023 she was appointed to The Federal Department of Education’s National Respectful Relationships and Consent Education Expert Working Group, she is an Advisor for the Little Blue Dinosaur Foundation and an Ambassador for Australians for Mental Health. 

Dr Martin has advocated for improvements to the mental health system and as Chair of the first Mental Health and Suicide Prevention Committee during her time in Federal Parliament, Dr Martin led an inquiry which produced key recommendations for reform. She also contributed to the Health, National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) and Family Law Committee and an inquiry into Family and Domestic Violence. She scuccessfully advocated the national mandate for compulsory consent and protective behaviours education in Australian schools.

Dr Martin has conducted research on interviewing children about past events (eyewitness testimony), autism spectrum disorder and intellectual disabilities, psychological interventions for children with a parent undergoing treatment for cancer and she is currently working on a research project to better understand the mental health needs of individuals with neuromuscular disorders including Facioscapulohumeral Muscular Dystrophy (FSHD).
